Best Stories of the Year

One of the coolest things about being in SFWA is recommending for and voting on the Nebulas. I keep track yearly of what I recommend, and it becomes my list of best stories of the year. I'm limited to two magazines, due to time constraints: Asimov's and F&SF. I'll also read a story if someone asks me to. Here's my list of best stories of the year:

* Short Story: Matthew Corradi: Journey to Gantica (F&SF, Jan06)
* Short Story: Carol Emshwiller: World of No Return (Asimov's, Jan06)
* Short Story: Bruce McAllister: Kin (Asimov's, Feb06)
* Novelette: R. Garcia y Robertson: Teen Angel (Asimov's, Feb06)
* Novelette: Rusch, Kristine Kathryn: Except the Music (Asimov's, Apr/May06)
* Novella: William Shunn: Inclination (Asimov's, Apr/May06)
* Short Story: Cooper, Constance: The King's Tail (Asimov's, Apr/May06)
* Novelette: Mary Rickert: Journey into the Kingdom (F&SF, May06)
* Short Story: Jack Skillingstead: Life on the Preservation (Asimov's, June06)
* Short Story: Robert Reed: Eight Episodes (Asimov's, June06)
* Novella: Ysabeau S. Wilce: The Lineaments of Gratified Desire (F&SF, July06)
* Novelette: R. Garcia y Robertson: Kansas, She Says, is the Name of the Star (F&SF, July06)
* Short Story: Tim Pratt: Impossible Dreams (Asimov's, July06)
* Novella: Brian Stableford: The Plurality of Worlds (Asimov's, Aug06)
* Novelette: Rudy Rucker: Postsingularity (Asimov's, Sep06)
* Norton: Susan Beth Pfeffer: Life As We Knew It (Harcourt, Oct06)

As you can see, I haven't read too many novels this year, and mostly I read for Norton Award recommendations.

I posted all of these and summaries to the lj community hugo_recommend.
