My dad let it be known the other day that he wasn't happy with my Amazon Rank of #81,727. He better not get a Bookscan account.

I'm reminded of a friend of my mother's who heard I wasn't planning to have kids and said, with some outrage, "If my children told me that, I wouldn't stand for it!" Okay, fine, but what are you going to do about it?

My father and I have the same name, so he has on occasion let the mistaken identity run its course to a humorous conclusion. If he starts doing interviews as me, I am so changing my name to Plethora McBoob.

But yeah, put up or shut up, I say.

No, but I've written a perl script that accesses the Amazon API to pull back sales rank by ISBN. It also brings back the dewey decimal location. And the small, medium, large images. And all the reviews.

I did that in C# when I was playing around with making some custom library software. Amazon has some nice APIs. Then I discovered LibraryThing. After using LT for a while, I'm considering going back to writing the custom app. Maybe I'll get back to that after I finish the custom image/article/multimedia archiving app.
